Alapocas Real Estate
Alapocas Real Estate
The neighborhood of Alapocas lies just outside the Wilmington city limits and was established in 1936. It is the present location of the highly regarded private Wilmington Friends School. Alapocas is the first of the five 5 communities in North Wilmington developed by William Poole Bancroft and his Woodlawn Company. Bancroft felt that well planned housing was the response to sprawling real estate development rampant in the last half of the 1900’s around Wilmington. It received some notoriety in 2014 when it was ranked number one as the richest place to live in the Philadelphia region’s Higley 1000 rating. There is excellent access to shopping, the city, and I95 for the 131 homes in Alapocas. The neighborhood is full of walking trails linking to the adjacent Alapocas Run State Park which also has a host of Bike Trails , a fabulous Blue Bell Bard, a Rock Climbing Wall and much more. The walking trails are superb - one can walk all the way to Bellevue Park, through Rockford Park, and Bringhurst Woods. The Greenway also connects Alapocas to Rockwood Park, the Brandywine River and Trolley Square. One can walk all the way to the Brandywine Zoo without walking on any roads! For anyone that works at either the Dupont Experimental Station, Astra Zeneca, or Nemours Hospital, you will not find an easier commute than living in the mature tree lined streets of Alapocas. Tree professionals call Alapocas an urban forest.
