Mendenhall Village Real Estate
Mendenhall Village Real Estate
Mendenhall Village was one of the first Planned Unit Developments (PUD) in Delaware. It was set up in the late 1970's as a combination of townhomes and single family homes on the horse farm of Wilhelmina Dupont Ross. Selling a portion of her lands was deemed to be a good way of establishing the value of the rest in her estate planning. At that time the location and the idea of a combination of townhomes and singles was considered a gamble. Jimmy DiSabatino, then in his mid 30's took the gamble and decided to build the homes. They were extraordinarily successful. So instead of going broke as area businessmen predicted, Jimmy was able to retire. The community is at the edge of the Hockessin 19707 zip and is a "sister" community to Limestone Hills next door. There is a playground, over 8 acres of common grounds and a park within the very pleasant real estate community.
