Greenville Real Estate And Information
Greenville is the Chateau Country of Delaware. Originally the home of many huge DuPont family estates, it is a beautiful area of rolling hills and scenic byways. Sometimes referred to as the land of “pink and green” this is the real estate area with the most expensive homes and the highest per capita income in northern Delaware. While many of the farms and estates have been subdivided into neighborhoods, the area is still quite rural and unspoiled. The main commuting road is Route 52 (Kennett Pike), which is on the national register of scenic byways. Much of the area is 2 acre zoning and it was one of the last areas to get good cell phone coverage (who wants a cell tower in their back yard). Major area attractions include Winterthur Museum (a former DuPont family home that was the 3rd largest home in the United States), which is now the nation’s premier museum of American decorative arts, the Delaware Museum of Natural History, Greenville Center (a high-end mecca of dining, shopping, and financial center) and Centerville (a village founded in the 18th century steeped in history and fun). Hagley Museum is where Dupont Company first started, as a manufacturer of gun powder and it is still THE PLACE to see the Fourth of July fireworks. There are at least five private country clubs in the Greenville area, each more prestigious that the next. Greenville is an area and a zip code (19807). Though no one seems to know the historical significance of the name, everyone knows the real estate area.
